A family-owned coffee shop, bakery, and ice-cream parlor in downtown Holdrege NE called Coal & Feed Coffee & Vittle. We are passionate about creating house-baked desserts and specialty coffee drinks using traditional methods. We take great pleasure in seeing our customers savor our creations.
Our Journey
Coal & Feed Coffee & Vittle is a concept created by Peggy and Toni, a mother-and-daughter team who saw an opportunity to restore and reimagine a historic space in downtown Holdrege.
The coffee shop is located in an early-1900s building that originally served as a coal and feed store. After researching the building’s history, the creators chose to honor its past through the name and overall design of the space, blending vintage character with a clean, modern aesthetic. Historical photos and thoughtfully selected design elements help tell the story of the building while creating a warm, welcoming environment.
Coal & Feed offers a carefully crafted menu featuring specialty coffee sourced from a Nebraska-based roaster, house-made baked goods prepared daily, and a rotating selection of desserts available by the slice or for custom orders. The menu also includes hard-packed ice cream with homemade waffle cones, breakfast items, soups, salads, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, teas, and specialty drinks inspired by local history.
With a focus on quality, community, and hospitality, Coal & Feed was created as a place where people can gather, connect, and enjoy good food and coffee in a space rooted in local history.
